INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Monumental Mayhem’s third bout of championship Sunday was a match-up of two teams that had just played two days prior – the eighth-seeded Arch Rival and the ninth-seeded Chicago Outfit. The Outfit lost to Arch Rival two days ago in the opening bout of Monumental Mayhem but they won on Sunday afternoon by a score of 153 – 113.
The strong Outfit defense highlighted the early part of the first half. With twenty minutes remaining in the first half, Arch Rival had yet to hit double figures after ten minutes of play – the Outfit led 29 – 9. The Outfit pushed the lead to 33 – 12 before three power jam penalties against them allowed Arch Rival to get back into the bout. Arch Rival’s Black Market Baby put up 8 points and then another 20 points in power jams and Downtown Dallis scored 15. The three power jams cut the Outfit lead to four points at 59 – 55. Arch Rival’s May Require Stitches then bested Lola Blow and the score was tied at 63 with 5:44 to play in the first half.
The Chicago Outfit played clean for the final three jams of the half to take a 75 – 63 lead into the break.
The first ten minutes of the second half were all defense by both teams. Arch Rival’s pack play highlighted by Chewblocka, Mayor Francis Slayer, Artemischief, Shimmy Hoffa and Stabby McCutcha. The Outfit defense featured Gaygan, Hero Shima, Bloody Elle, Lady K, the Joan Ranger, Helsa Wayton, Suzie Crotchrot, Margles McNasty, Maul E. Hatchet and Smashley Destructo. With 20 minutes remaining, The Outfit maintained a four point lead at 81 – 77.
Over the next 14 minutes, the Outfit reasserted themselves offensively without getting sent to the penalty box. Lola Blow’s team high 18-point jam pushed the Outfit lead to 120 – 85 at the 11 minute mark. Interestingly, that was the last time Lola Blow would jam during the bout as the Outfit rode to victory on the wheels of Sweet Mary Pain and Queefer Sutherland. The only Monumental Mayhem rematch went to the underdog as the Chicago Outfit prevailed by a score of 153 – 113.
Arch Rival was led by Black Market Baby’s 47 points and Downtown Dallis’ 37 as they secured sixth place in the tournament. The Chicago Outfit entered as nine and leave as five. They were led by Sweet Mary Pain’s 59 points, Queefer Sutherland’s 49 and Lola Blow’s 40.
