DULUTH, MN–Detroit’s final game went about the same as the previous two: shut out jammers, powerful blockers, and big point spreads. Sin City’s strong pack game got disrupted and they went for more big hits. They continued to use star passes to try and stop the point scoring but they couldn’t post any big jams to ever get close to Detroit, who finished 318-106 winners.

DULUTH, MN–New Orleans’ Big Easy were a founding WFTDA member making their first appearance at playoffs this year; St Charles’ St Chux are a new league just breaking onto the scene. An impressive 9-1 record for the year coming into the tournament had secured St Chux top seeding here, but wasn’t enough to see them all the way to the final as they were shown up a little by Sin City’s dynamism. They had no such problems with Big Easy, though–they put on a thoroughly dominant performance and clinic in soul-destroying meat-grinder defence and finished 295-84 winners to take the bronze medal.

DULUTH, MN–Omaha opened up each day of playoffs with the 10am game and today their strategy really seemed to come together. They put Flash Gloria back on jammer duty, while putting Faye in as blocker; they also took more control of the pack and utilized star passes when their jammers were stuck. Tucson started out strong, but ran into penalty trouble and gave up too many power jam points. Omaha ended their weekend with their first win, 184-138–consigning Tucson to 10th place with a 0-3 record.
