KALAMAZOO, MI–Carolina lost star jammer Sheeza Freak to knee injury in yesterday’s bout against Tri-City, but it didn’t stop them turning in a dominating performance against a penalty-prone Burning River side. They ran up a 147-75 halftime lead and while scoring slowed for both sides in the second half, the ratio remained about the same: by the final whistle, Carolina had taken the win–and 7th place–with 250 points to Burning River’s 131.

D2K: Tri-City Marches Over Carolina, 247-131

KALAMAZOO, MI–Tri-City easily handled Carolina to put up a 247-131 victory and claim a place in tomorrow’s 5th-place game. Working without core jammer Sheeza Freak, fallen to a knee injury early in the first half, Carolina struggled to defend the Tri-City attack as the Kitchener team ran up big points despite frequent pack disadvantages.

KALAMAZOO, MI–The first game in the consolation bracket of the WFTDA Division 2 tournament brought together the Carolina Roller Girls with Suburbia Roller Derby of Yonkers, New York. Carolina lost to NEO of Akron, Ohio on Friday afternoon with a final score of 222-178. Suburbia played Paper Valley on Friday morning, losing 308 to 107.

KALAMAZOO, MI–NEO got lead within seconds of the first whistle, and had the lead within 30 seconds. A 7-0 first jam for NEO was followed by a lead call for Carolina–but it was 7 minutes in before CRG got their first points on the board. Carolina took the lead in the dying seconds of the half with a 34-0 run, but a second half that featured multiple lead changes ended up favoring NEO, who took the game 222-178.
