SALEM, OR–The all-international fifth-place bout was spectacularly evenly matched in the first half, with several lead changes and a halftime score of 75 apiece. But the Australian side ran away with it in the second half, outpacing Toronto 133-49–with those points mostly limited to power jams–to take the win 208-124.

SALEM, OR–After Boston’s down-to-the-wire loss to 3-seed Rat City last night, they might have been expected to take 10-seed Toronto handily–but C.N. Power had very different plans. They dominated the Massacre in the game’s opening minutes and then settled into a groove of back-and-forth play in which the scoreboard fluctuated with the penalties, as both teams gave up frequent power jams.

SALEM, OR–After opening the tournament with an upset win, big things might have been expected of Toronto–and indeed, when they had all their blockers on the track, their walls proved the equal of Atlanta’s, a fact which was reflected in a breathtakingly close game halfway through both the first and second periods.
